Little bit ago i went on my game on the computer and got on World of Warcraft and hey updated it and the new expansion hat involves a new thing called classes.There is Mage,Druid,Warrior,the new class Deah Knight,Rogue is what Veemon,Paladin, Hunter And Shaman.And the main site is http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml if u want on the server then if u get on go to he server Stormrage.Then if u make it go friend list and look for veemon if i am not on send me mail make a comment that ask to send mail to me.

First Day of School

Today was one of those days that I love homeschooling. We had our first day of school. It was a field trip. How cool is that. Ananya had a doctor's appointment. We went to the Sci-Works down there.
Anthony really likes to look at all the exhibits. He got to play with all the physics exhibits. It was good because that is what we are studying this year. Tomorrow we have to start on real book work. Maybe we can get through the year without too much burnout.
I'm hoping so anyways.

The Olympics

So we are studying "Creation to the Greeks" this year. I've been thinking that maybe we need to look at the Olympics. How it started and such. I'm not sure whether we will start the year next week or if we should just Tivo a few events and watch them as time goes on. I know Anthony is in no hurry to start school again. Ananya starts preschool in 3 weeks. I was hoping to be back from India and start school then. I don't think its really a good idea for us to wait that long though. I want the whole homeschool experience to be fun for Anthony, but am not sure how to do it.
I'm going to send him to classes at the local science center once a month. I know that will make him happy. Anything to get away from the evil mom.
We will be visiting an exhibit in Charlotte sometime this month. It is on a Day in Pompeii. I think we may just make an exploding volcano.
We definitely need to work on our manners around here too. We have gotten alittle lax and there haven't been enough pleases and thank yous. Got get control before a house full of children over rule us.
I'm also excited to do more cooking projects this year. We are going to make Challah and have a traditional Jewish Sabbath this year (at least in my head). Not sure how everyone else is going to warm to the idea. It may be nice though. I'll try to disconnect my family from technology for a day. I'll probably have to drag them down to the lake for most of the day.
Anyways. I'll keep everyone posted on how we are doing. I may be kind of vague in descriptions.
Just remember. I don't mean for this blog in anyway to be a complete diary of our homeschooling. I won't list everything we are covering. Remember that.

Next Year

We've finished standardized testing for our first year. This means our first year has ended. I've bought the curriculum for next year and have started to prepare. I'm planning some field trips for next year and hoping to start school while I'm on leave, if we get Prasun in time.
The title of our curriculum for next year is "Creation to the Greeks". We'll be studying Jewish traditions, Greek influence on scinece and mathematics.
I have some ideas I'm hoping will make the year more enjoyable for Anthony and myself. We are going to Washington DC at the end of October. I've never been to DC so I think it will be fun. I'm hoping in the spring to go to the Knoxville Zoo. We will be going to Discovery Place in Charlotte (probably twice). Weekly trips to the library will keep the babies stocked with books. I'm going to make more of an effort to have "pre-school" as well.
I'll try to post more pictures of things we are working on and things Anthony is writing.
Ideas for next year:
Soccer -- September and October
Swimming-- November and December
Indoor Soccer --?January and February
I'm going to get registered for the homeschool classes at the local science center. It'll will give Anthony something to do once a month. I'll add more as I can think of it.

My cat Scratch

It all started with Blackjack my cat.Blackjack came to us at Halloween.There were 3 cats and my mom let me have 1and I named her Blackjack. Soon she had kittens and my mom let me keep 1 kitten and I named him Scratch and guess what he scratches and I think he's crazy. His mom hates him because he scratches too many times. Him and his mom look alike. We have a dog and her name is peanut that likes to play with Scratch.

There has been some question about the welfare of my son because he wrote "HELP ME!" in the driveway. He is fine. He wrote it as a joke.
Sometimes you have to have a sense of humor when evaluating my life. I wipe butts for a living and my husband supports our family killing bugs. We don't live our life being completely serious. We don't see the point. Yesterday Anthony wrote a dialogue about 2 ducks talking. One was a crossdresser. And yes I explained about what a crossdresser is.
Let me explain to you why I homeschool.
Last week, there was a story in the news about a MIDDLE SCHOOL in Maine that is handing out BIRTHCONTROL PILLS to middle school children WITHOUT THEIR PARENTS CONSENT. Anyone remember the news stories about children bringing guns to school? I remember when I was pregnant, there were middle schoolers pregnant at that time. That was 10 years ago. We don't like the standards set by society today. We are sometime very far in the right wing. We are trying to teach our children different. We study the bible everyday. We adjust our learning to Anthony's ability. It works for us.
Personally, I've been changing lately. I want to be a housewife. I want to do things traditionally. I clean my floors with vinegar to reduce the chemicals I use. If I could find washing sodas, I'd make homemade laundry soap. Our house isn't like most others and quite frankly we like it that way. If you visit us, my husband may witness about Jesus to you. Eventually, I'd like to travel the world and do missionary work. We definitely will adopt again. Maybe more than once.
So please have a sense of humor about what is written on my blogs. I am with my children alot of the time, somedays 24/7. When I'm not here, Patrick is. We know our children.

Soccer Games

We had 2 soccer games this week. Monday we tied 1-1. Today we lost, 4-0. It hasn't been such a bad season though. The kids are having fun. Thats what matters. Blogger isn't letting me load these pictures. I'll try tomorrow.

We are trucking right along with home schooling. We are going on a field trip October 26th to the NC Zoo. Anthony will also be taking some classes at the local science center. Patrick has been a "substitute" teacher for a couple days because I had some of my own education to do for one of the hospitals that I work at. English is still a struggle. I guess one day the light will just come on and he'll understand more of it. Until then, we will keep going over the information together.
We are in Mexico this week and move on to Canada next week.
I have a picture to post of the the book we are reading. I had Anthony draw a picture to illustrate what he thought the scene looked like. I'll also add some pictures from a soccer game.

Catching Up

No we are not behind, but you are. I thought I would start by telling everyone what we have covered in the first 4 weeks and then let Anthony keep up with the summaries about 2 times a week. I'll break it down by subject:
Bible:
We have discussed 6 major religions: Christianity, animism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism.
Bible reading from: John 3:16, Genesis 11:1-9, Isaiah 45:22-24, Psalm 24:1-2, Luke 2:8-11, Revelation 5:6-10, Revelation 7:9-17, Matthew 1:1-24, Matthew 2:13-18
Memory Verses: Matthew 1:23 "The vigin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him "Immanuel"- which means, "God with us."
Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
We have talked about Navejo people and Cuba.
We have learned about Dwight Moody and Harriet Tubman.
We have a book series about missionaries. We are reading about Cameron Townsend, a missionary to Central America right now. So far he has translated the New Testament into a tribal language, Cakchiquel. He is trying to convince authorities in Mexico to allow him to work with Indian tribes there. He is trying to fund his missions during the Great Depression. It has been a wonderful book.
Language: We have 2 different sources for language.
The first book has various exercises on reading, writting, and interpreting short stories, poems and essays. It is somewhat difficult for Anthony to understand. He's not the world's biggest English fan. Our second source is geared towards promoting writing skills. I have started sitting down completely to complete these assignments as well as the other. This is a struggle, but I understand the information, so I just have to get Anthony to give the effort.
I'm hoping that blogging will help with his writing skills. I know that you may get to read about World of Warcraft some because he loves it. That may help him write.
Math: We have been doing addition and subtraction problems. It is just started at a lower level and reviewing. The program has started to use lots of word problems now. That seemed to be a weak point so it is good to work on these.
We just started spelling last week. It is a simple program. I won't bore you with details.
Geography: We started just studying maps and globes and learning terminology. Learning continents and oceans. We spent 2 weeks learning the states and some basic geography.
Science: We are studying the desert at the moment.
I'm starting to figure this out as we go along. We have had a couple of good days. I'm very proud.
Anthony has been in soccer for a few weeks now. We started having games this week. I will add pictures later. Anthony loves playing and is good. He has played goalie, defender and forward. We are 0-2 right now. We had to forfeit the first game because we didn't have enough players. We played anyways. Our team did pretty good. The second game wasn't great. 0-7. We haven't had practice since we started games because we play on Mondays and Tuesdays. Hopefully, we will continue to practice on Thursdays. I'll keep everyone updated.

3 weeks down :o)

We have successfully completed almost 3 weeks of homeschool. We are trying to establish routines still, but the work is getting done. Above is the table where we do our work. I now have a world map on the wall in the dining room. Talk about learning in every moment of the day. We have move into our first group of study, North America. We will spend a couple weeks in the US and then move to study Mexico, Canada, and Central America. We made a cake earlier this week with the continents on it. We know all 7 continents and all 5 oceans by heart. We are starting on the 50 states now. We have added our spelling program. Overall I think it is working well. Hopefully, I can convince Anthony as well. We will start taking field trips soon.
